After 14 wonderful years and much deliberation we have made the difficult decision to close Midwifery of Manhattan in May 2017.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve the thousands of women, babies and families who have trusted us with their health and well-being.
We are deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the most intimate and sacred times of your lives. We cherish the years we have had together and wish you all the very best.
Keep in touch with us through educational opportunities with Parent Craft, a Childbirth Education and Support Service based in Park Slope, Brooklyn, founded by our Midwife Casey Selzer.

The practice was opened in 2003 by Sylvie Blaustein, CNM. After 15 years of practicing midwifery in various practices in New York City, Sylvie opened Midwifery of Manhattan with the commitment of providing care in a sensitive and intimate environment.
Our office is located on 58th Street between eighth and ninth avenues and we are delighted to attend births at Mt. Sinai Roosevelt's Birth Center as well as its Labor and Delivery unit. While providing true midwifery care in a home-like environment, with all medical back-up and technology in close proximity, we feel that we offer the best of both worlds to our clients. We look forward to meeting with you and introducing you to our practice.

Midwifery Care
Midwives believe pregnancy and birth is a natural and physiologic process. The Midwives of Midwifery of Manhattan support you and your family through this process physically, emotionally, psychologically, socially and spiritually. Midwives provide high-touch and low-tech care to minimize intervention in a way that maximizes safety and positive outcomes for you and your baby. We provide relationship based care: so that we can get to know each other and build mutual trust. We assess the health and safety of mom and baby throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth and if a higher-risk situation arises we work closely with our collaborating physicians.
